Quick Reference Guide

Access request setup

The school author completes the setup page and the status of the access request is Draft.

Summary profile

The program defaults to one of the first three checkboxes depending on the student’s year level.

  • summary profile K to 6
  • summary profile 7 to 10
  • summary profile 11 to 12

These defaults can be changed by the School Author if required to one of the following:

  • summary profile early intervention class and/ or resource
  • summary profile kindergarten: enrolling or newly enrolled .

If the student is new to the government school system, the School Author will need to select the most appropriate option.

Support documents

Specific disabiity support sections are added to an access request by selecting the type of support document on the set up page.

No additional support documents (sections) are required for a student with an intellectual or physical disability . Information relevant to these provisions is already contained within the Access Request application.

For a student needing Autism, Distance Education, Mental Health, Behaviour, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impairment and/or Vision Impairment support (whether to request a support class, distance education or IFS support), select the relevant support document(s) in the Access Request Setup screen. The EAL/D section provides additional information where appropriate.

Selecting these support documents assigns responsibility to specific school participants to complete sections or sub sections, e.g. selecting Autism Support requires the Learning and Support Team Coordinator, school counsellor/ school psychologist and senior psychologist education to contribute.

Shared enrolment

A shared enrolment applies when a student attends two or more schools for a period of time eg ED/BD support class or tutorial centre.

Selecting the shared enrolment provision creates a field in the Verification screen for the Principal to confirm that the student remains enrolled at the home school as a census enrolment.

The ERN Index – ‘SCAS procedures’ contains the Procedures for shared enrolment status of students accessing specialist educational settings.

Integration, Funding Support for a student transitioning to another school

The census school can apply for Integration, Funding Support to assist a student making the transition from, for example, a government early intervention program to a Kindergarten mainstream classroom. Selecting this box on the Set Up screen creates a field on the Verification screen that requires the Principal to discuss the Access Request with the Principal of the new school.
